From October 26 to 27, the 2025 International Seminar on Grain Loss Reduction themed "From Policy to Practice: Promoting the Application of Grain Loss Reduction Technologies" was held in Wuhan. Co-hosted by the China Office of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Foreign Affairs Department of the National Grain and Material Reserves Administration, the seminar brought together government representatives, diplomatic envoys to China, and experts from scientific research and academic institutions across more than 10 countries. Focusing on the core issue of grain loss reduction, it aimed to promote the widespread global application of mechanized loss reduction models and loss reduction technologies affordable for smallholder farmers through the in-depth integration of policy innovation and practical implementation. Shao Hui, Deputy General Manager of Hualiang Technology, was invited to attend the seminar and delivered a special presentation on the theme of "Intelligent Green Storage Supports Grain Conservation and Loss Reduction".
Currently, the global issue of grain loss is exacerbating resource waste and hunger challenges, with the problem of grain loss being more prominent in African regions. As digital technology develops rapidly worldwide, the concept of digitalization has gradually penetrated into the field of grain loss reduction, injecting key new impetus into addressing global food security challenges. Shao Hui stated that in response to the practical needs of global grain loss reduction and the trend of technological upgrading, Hualiang Technology has deeply integrated new-generation digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data into the core links of the grain industry, and systematically built a full-chain loss reduction system covering grain procurement, storage, processing, and consumption. This not only has achieved a crucial shift in grain loss reduction from "passive response to losses" to "proactive risk prevention and control", but also has consolidated a solid technical foundation for national food security. Meanwhile, it has provided a replicable and promotable practical model of loss reduction for the industry.
Looking ahead, Hualiang Technology will continue to deepen its collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme in the field of South-South Cooperation. Through diverse forms such as program alignment, joint innovation, knowledge sharing, and information exchange, the company will further advance the development of its overseas market business, expand its international brand influence, and thereby help developing countries strengthen the resilience of their grain systems, providing a practical and feasible "Chinese solution" for global food security.
